Tom Biggs to join Worcester
Bath Rugby winger Tom Biggs has swapped the European Challenge Cup finalists for a possible season in the Rugby Football Union Championship after signing for the Worcester Warriors.
The Aviva Premiership club is expected to go down from the top flight at the end of the season and have continued their drive to recruit top experienced players from their rivals in order to ensure a swift return to the Premiership.
Biggs was almost certain to switch codes after agreeing terms with Hull FC of the Super League but his failure to get an early release from his contract with Bath saw that deal collapse and the Warriors pounced quickly to snap up the flanker.
Speaking of his move to Worcester, Biggs stated that he is looking forward to the challenge that lies ahead of him. He added that club is very ambitious but the results have not gone in their favor in the recent seasons and he is looking forward to the challenge of being part of a successful Worcester Warriors side.
Biggs will link up with Carl Hogg at Worcester, someone he knows from his time at Leeds Carnegie and former Bath Rugby player Sam Vesty as well.
The veteran went on to add that Dean Ryan, the Director of Rugby of the club is very passionate about the project, and he knows the club is far away from its goals and where it sees itself and he wants Biggs to be part of the revolution that he wants to set in motion.
Ryan was also very pleased to announce the signing of Biggs, calling him a player capable of turning a match on its head with moments of sheer brilliance on the pitch. He also added that his experience of Premiership rugby will help him settle quickly as well.
