BEACH RUGBY IN KONG KONG

More than 500 players will take part in the inaugural AirAsia Hong Kong Beach 5s at Repulse Bay from March 19-20.

The two-day event will feature 32 men’s and 12 women’s teams as well as 24 junior mini-rugby teams.

Beach rugby is an exciting shortened version of rugby that is becoming increasingly popular around the world, with major events held in France, Italy and the United States. At 30 meters by 20 meters, the field is a fraction of the size of a standard rugby pitch, with fewer players, shorter matches and a simplified scoring system.

The Hong Kong Volleyball Association will be running an exhibition beach tournament alongside the rugby.
